Scheduled Inspections & Maintenance – The Perfect Combination

Statistics show that roofs receiving regular inspections and preventative maintenance last up to 30% longer than those that don’t. When you consider the size of your roofing investment, extending that lifespan is clearly good business sense.

Part of good preventative maintenance is making repairs when they are needed. There is a tendency to put off repairs as long as possible. That is not a good idea. No damage repairs itself. As damage is left unattended, it increases, resulting in higher costs and decreased protection for your building and your business.

Ideally, your commercial roof should be inspected a minimum of twice per year; once in the Spring and again the Autumn. These inspections are to look for damage caused by the recent seasonal weather extremes and to ensure you are protected for the upcoming weather conditions.

Any items noted with damage or a deficiency should be addressed immediately. Repairs that are promptly addressed have no opportunity to cause additional damage in the future.

Additional preventative maintenance steps should also be taken. Cleaning the roof, ensuring it is free of debris will make it perform more efficiently. Clearing gutters and drains will keep your commercial flat roof from developing ponding water issues, ice damming and other drainage related issues.

This is the time to address any loosening seams, rust development in a metal roofing system, or hail caused divots in your foam system.
